Picea abies 'Cupressina'

Elegant columnar selection, highly valued as an accent or perimeter planting where a strong vertical effect is needed. Dark green evergreen needles are slightly curved on closely set limbs, creating a slender, uniform form with dense branching to the ground. Withstands heavy snow loads. Tolerates heat and humidity better than others. Ideal windbreak or privacy wall. Has a narrow upright growth habit & reaches roughly 25’ tall by 6’ wide in size, growing 15”+ a year.

Picea abies 'Dandylion'

A colorful mounding form of Norway Spruce. Small red female cones form on the tips of yellow shoots. Branches arch up & down, spreading to fill space. Relatively short needles provide a fine texture. Has a spreading growth habit & reaches roughly 4’ tall by 4’ wide in size, growing 3” to 6” a year.

 

Picea abies ‘Gold Drift’ 

Adds color to the garden in whatever shape and boundaries the gardener allows it to have. Early spring brings bright lime green new growth. The foliage that is fully exposed to the sun turns a vibrant yellow in late spring and summer. The brilliance continues until winter when the color becomes more subdued. Can be allowed to ramble as a ground-cover, drape over rock walls, or become a garden feature when staked upright. Has a weeping growth habit & size varies with culture, growing 12” to 15” a year.

Picea abies 'Little Gem'

Tufts of tiny green needles cover the many short shoots of this dense, tight bun. Its tough constitution & restrained growth assure good performance in a variety of garden situations where it resembles a lush, green pincushion. Has a globe shaped growth habit & reaches roughly 1’ tall by 2’ wide in size, growing 1” to 3” a year.

 

Picea abies 'Pendula'

Can be staked and trained into an outstanding upright specimen, or it can be allowed to grow as an undulating ground-cover that drapes over slopes and walls. Plant a row of several young specimens with  stakes and wire supports to train them into a living fence. Has a weeping growth habit & size varies with culture, growing 12” to 15” a year.

 

Picea abies 'Pusch'

Named Collector's Conifer of the Year in 2008, this small, slow-growing Norway Spruce, produces loads of bright red cones on many short shoots in spring. The tiny cones brown as they age, but continue to decorate the irregular, dwarf variety year-round. Globose when young, the small spruce develops an upright broad shape with maturity. It is extremely hardy and grows well in full sun or part shade.  Has a globe shaped growth habit & reaches roughly 2’ tall by 3’ wide in size, growing 2” to 4” a year.

Picea abies 'Ripplebrook'

A tidy, weeping Norway Spruce that forms a low mounding shape with age. It can be grown as a slow growing ground cover or staked upright as a gentle weeper.  Delicate tiny green sprays of needles cover this very dainty specimen, which resembles cascading water that has been frozen in time. Great for containers or as a specimen plant for collectors. Truly a one of a kind. Has a spreading growth habit & reaches roughly 1.5’ tall by 3’ wide in size, growing 4” to 6” a year.

 

Picea abies 'Royal Splendour'

A super hardy variety with rich, bright green needles that cover upward sweeping branches on its beautifully symmetrical Christmas tree shape. Has a broad upright habit & reaches roughly 25’ tall by 15’ wide in size, growing 12” or more a year.

Picea englemannii 'Jasper'

Soft in color & needle texture, this compact, globose spruce traces its roots to a species native to the Rocky Mountains. Rarely seen in the trade, this muted, blue-green variety thrives in cool, mountain conditions, so its subtle, rugged beauty makes a perfect addition to the alpine garden. Has a globe-shaped growth habit & reaches roughly 3’ tall by 2’ wide in size, growing 2” to 4” a year.

 

Picea glauca ‘Jean’s Dilly’

An extraordinary small, dense & slow growing variety.  Its short, fine needles display a distinctive twist during the growing season. A signature plant that is a fitting choice for any garden or landscape. Has a narrow upright growth habit & reaches roughly 3’ tall by 1’ wide in size, growing 2” to 4” a year.

 

Picea glauca ‘Pendula’

Pendulous branches covered with short, densely packed needles. Adds a graceful, weeping effect to the landscape. Makes a superb accent specimen, or plant in groups as a windbreak or screen. An evergreen that likes partial shade to full sun. Has a narrow upright habit & reaches roughly 15’ tall by 4’ wide in size, growing 6” to 12” a year.

Picea glauca 'Pixie Dust'

An extremely dense Alberta Spruce that is compact and slow growing. When the second flush of growth emerges in summer, the new tips are yellow, a surprising effect that contrasts dramatically with the deep green, mature foliage. Great for containers or rock gardens, needs ample moisture & full sun for best color. Has a narrow upright habit & reaches roughly 1.5’ tall by 6’ wide in size, growing 1” to 3” each year.

 

Picea glauca ‘Rainbows End’

Superior seasonal color makes this variety  a brilliant addition to the summer garden. A second flush of growth transforms the light green, conical tree in mid-summer into a beacon of bright lemon yellow. Found as a mutation at Iseli Nursery in 1978, it appreciates consistent moisture, good nutrition and an occasional blast from the garden hose during summer to increase pest resistance. Has a narrow upright habit & reaches roughly 6’ tall by 2’ wide in size, growing 3” to 6” each year.

Picea omorika ‘Bruns’

A beautifully upright, narrow, pyramidal form with graceful branching and dense foliage. The uniform habit and deep green needles with silver bands on their undersides distinguish this exceptional selection from its species. An elegant conifer that can be used in city gardens and larger landscapes as a specimen, privacy screen, or windbreak. An evergreen that needs partial to full sun. Has a narrow upright growth habit & reaches roughly 30’ to 35’ tall by 8’ to 10’ wide in size, with age.

 

Picea omorika 'de Ruyter'

Texture, color & an irregular sculptural habit give this adaptable, slow-growing Serbian Spruce unique character & make it an excellent focal point for the small garden. Individual shoots display either blue needles for a frosty look, or green needles for a softer look, both on the same plant. The interesting, rustic appearance will accent many garden styles. Has a broad upright growth habit & reaches roughly 10’ tall by 8’ wide in size, growing 6” to 8” a year.

 

Picea omorika 'Kamenz'

Has a distinctive two-tone look with short branches covered with typical spruce needles, green on top & silver beneath, show off both colors at once. This adaptable cultivar complements the form of a bank or slope nicely. Slow-growing & easy, with minimal maintenance. Has a spreading growth habit & reaches roughly 2’ tall by 4’ wide in size, growing 3” to 5” a year.

Picea omorika 'Silberblue'

Bright & bushy, this omorika has classic two-tone needles that display a bright silver-blue against a green interior. A wide spreading base supports a sweeping upright peak. Very attractive when planted in deep, rich, well-drained soil in full sun. Has a broad upright habit & reaches roughly 25’ tall by 15’ wide in size, 15”+ a year.

 

Picea orientalis 'Firefly'

True to its name, the bright yellow needles of ‘Firefly’ light up the garden with 12 Months of Color®.  It has the classic thin needles that open in spring as a brilliant yellow, softening to gold as the season progresses & standing out against the green interior foliage. The perfect size for the modern landscape, it matures dense, bright & bushy at eye level. Has a broad upright growth habit & reaches roughly 6’ tall by 4’ wide in size, growing 3” to 6” a year.

Picea pungens 'Avatar'

A classic Colorado Blue Spruce manifesting the best qualities this species offers. The exceptionally lush blue foliage is especially striking in spring as the new needles emerge as soft blue powder puffs. The distinctive tiered pattern of branching contributes a “wow” factor both as a young tree today but more so in a mature specimen. With a slower growth rate than other popular cultivars, this heritage quality tree can develop to its full majesty in many sizes of landscapes. Picea pungens ‘Jeangenie’

The beauty of a classic Colorado Blue Spruce on a slower-growing plant, perfect for smaller landscapes. A handsome pyramidal form with a denser growth habit and brighter blue needles. Use as an evergreen windbreak or screen, or as a specimen plant in large landscapes. Has a broad upright growth habit & reaches roughly 10’ to 15’ tall by 6’ to 8’ wide, over 10 years.

Picea pungens 'Lundeby's Dwarf'

Steel-blue needles & horizontally-layered branches make this variety a neat & reliable landscape conifer that becomes wider than tall with age. A rare form of Colorado Blue Spruce, it stays compact & provides an attractive mounding form that stays in scale, even in small urban & suburban gardens. Useful as part of a foundation planting, as a focal point or in a rock garden or container. Has a globe shaped growth habit & reaches roughly 2’ tall by 3’ wide, 4” to 5” a year.

Picea pungens 'Moonstone'

This well-mannered little gem has bright blue foliage & maintains a compact, rounded form from youth to maturity. The perfect size & shape for suburban gardens that adds an easy-care pop of vivid blue to the landscape for years of enjoyment. Has a globe shaped growth habit & reaches roughly 2’ tall by 2’ wide in size, growing 1” to 3” a year.

Picea pungens 'Monty'

This bold new Iseli® introduction unites the genetics of two outstanding parents, ‘Montgomery’ and  ‘Hoopsi’.  Monty® has a classic conical Christmas tree shape with a strong leader as well as long, thin, bluest of blue needles. The small size and compact habit with shimmering frosty blue foliage makes this tree a versatile specimen for today’s small  landscapes. Has a broad upright growth habit & reaches roughly 8’ tall by 6’ wide in size, growing 6” or more a year.

Picea pungens 'Niemetz'

A show-stopper in spring when a creamy white flush bursts open & has a striking contrast against the older blue foliage. The new growth gradually darkens to blue as the season progresses. With irregular form that is wider than tall when young, ‘Niemetz’ develops into an attractive upright tree. Hardy & durable, it makes an attractive focal point with good seasonal interest. Has a broad upright growth habit & reaches roughly 10’ tall by 8’ wide in size, growing 6” to 8” a year.

Picea pungens 'Procumbens'

This spreading, undulating groundcover produces a striking effect when planted to drape over a rock wall or slope. The attractive blue form makes an excellent alternative to groundcovering junipers. Has a prostrate growth habit & reaches roughly 2’ tall by 10’ wide in size, growing 6” to 8” a year.

Picea pungens 'The Blues'

Was discovered as a unique growth sport on a Weeping Colorado Spruce and has become a favorite in gardens everywhere. Lush blue spring foliage drapes off of downward flowing branches creating a pleasing waterfall of year-round color. Plants may be trained to flow along a fence, deck railing, or stone wall & then allowed to spill across the ground, splashing against well-placed rocks in the garden. Enjoys a moist, well-drained location. Has a weeping/spreading growth habit & size varies with culture, growing 6” to 12” a year.

Picea rubens 'Lake Street Steeple'

Short, strictly weeping branches adorn the length of this dark green spruce with a tall, extremely narrow, weeping habit. The very unique form will be useful in small gardens in need of a vertical accent with little horizontal space to spare. Staking can be advantageous to insure its stability. Has a narrow upright growth habit & reaching roughly 20’ tall by 4’ wide in size, growing 12” to 15” a year.

 

Picea stichenensis ‘Peve Wiesje’

Originally found as a witches’ broom in the Netherlands, this dwarf cultivar of Sitka spruce was first introduced by plantsman Piet Vergeldt. Forming a tight, dense glove, it keeps a very tidy habit and has attractive contrasting silvery blue and green needles. Has a globe shaped growth habit & reaches roughly 2’ tall by 2’ wide, growing about 2” a year.

Picea stichenensis 'Silberzwerg'

The name refers to the plant’s outstanding needle color & its reliable, slow-growing habit. The plant’s very dense, very blue needles display a unique reversal from the norm: the two-tone, blue-green effect results from silvery blue on one side of needles with dark green on the reverses. Resists browsing deer. Has a broad upright growth habit & reaches roughly 8’ tall by 6’ wide, growing 3” to 6” a year.
